What is AVID?

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a schoolwide college and career readiness system. AVID is designed to increase the number of students who enroll and succeed in higher education and in their lives beyond high school.

AVID focuses on helping students develop skills in areas such as organization, study techniques, and critical thinking. With AVID, students participate in small group tutorials, mentorship, and a rigorous curriculum that emphasizes writing, inquiry, collaboration, and reading. The goal is to equip students with the tools they need to excel academically and navigate the challenges of college and beyond.
